Lively Arts Foundation is a non-profit presenting and support organization whose mission is to help establish the Fresno metropolitan area as a major cultural force in California - by providing a variety of world-class music, dance and dramatic entertainment, and by fostering a challenging and enriched environment for talented local students in the performing arts.
The Foundation has presented a wide variety of internationally famous dancers and dance companies, from Dance Theatre of Harlem, Stars of the Bolshoi Ballet and Principal Dancers of New York City Ballet and Ballet Nacional De Caracas, through the powerful Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater to tap dance greats Gregory Hines (Who has done two special benefit performances on behalf of Central California Ballet), Savion Glover, and Manhattan Tap.
The Foundation has sponsored the creation of a number of original ballets
for its resident Central California Ballet, including the evening-length
"Alice in Wonderland," the popular "Pas de Chats," "Sleeping Beauty, Act
III," the new "Beauty and The Beast" , and of course the annual production of
"NUTCRACKER; The Mouse Queen's Revenge," at the Tower Theatre in Fresno.
Central California Ballet is the Valley's first semi-professional dance
company. Its two-fold purpose is to present quality dance entertainment and
to provide a professional working atmosphere for the members of the Company.
To this end, the Company employs experienced professional guest artists for
every performance and brings in exceptional choreographers from major and
established companies to challenge and inspire its talented young dancers.
CCB members have appeared on stage with current and former principal
dancers from San Francisco Ballet, New York City Ballet, Dance Theatre of
Harlem, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Joffrey Ballet, the Kirov Ballet
and Oakland Ballet and have performed works choreographed by David
McNaughton of San Francisco Ballet and Ronn Guidi and Michael Lowe of the
Oakland Ballet.
